Clean Beauty Recommendations to Throw in Your Carry-on
Thinking about taking a trip soon? Whether you're looking to avoid the rising fees of checked bags, or you just want to keep it simple and travel light, we put together a list of some of our favorite beauty & personal care products to consider on your next jaunt. Everything on the list is in a size that is TSA approved, and many of them can do double-duty to lessen the number of products you need to bring. SIMPLE. CLEAN. CHIC.
MINERAL SUNSCREEN
Even if you're planning a non-beach trip, it's still recommended to wear sunscreen on your face and other exposed areas daily. At FORK & MELON we opt for mineral/physical sunscreens (those with Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide as the active ingredients), as a safer and more environmentally-friendly choice over chemical versions (with main actives oxybenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, or octinoxate). We also avoid sunscreens that contain other problematic ingredients like Parabens or Retinyl Palmitate/Retinol (which shouldn't be worn in the sun). Here are some of our favorites:
For Face
This BB Cream by Coola is a travel standby, since it doubles as a primer and/or foundation if you don't mind lighter coverage. It's moisturizing but leaves you with a matte finish, and it saves that extra room in your makeup bag.

Another option we love is this sunscreen by Farmacy Beauty that protects against environmental stressors and smooths on easily. We like it for face, neck, chest, and hands. It does have a slight white cast at first since it's not tinted, but sinks in pretty quickly.

For Body/All-Over
Especially on beach vacations, bringing a face sunscreen alone won't cut it. This is one of our favorite all-over sunscreens that's both healthy, it rubs in better than most mineral sunscreens, and it's more affordable. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's a kid sunscreen - adults can definitely use it too.

FACE WASH / BODY WASH IN ONE
We're partial to our gentle, effective Fine Cleansing Wash in travel size as a multi-purpose space-saver to use as both a face wash and a body wash when on the go. With clean, restorative ingredients that are pH balanced for face and body, they're a chic addition to any travel bag. And at a generous 2oz travel size, their small enough to be TSA approved, but larger than many travel sizes, which makes them great for short or longer trips. Additionally, if you purchase our refill bottle, you can reuse the travel sizes over and over.

FACE OIL FOR DAY AND NIGHT
We love using a few drops of face oil under our sunscreen during the day to give a bit of extra glow, and also after cleansing at night to help repair and moisturize. HERBIVORE makes a travel-friendly trio that contains all 3 of their incredibly popular face oils. You can bring along all 3, or just your favorite one in order to save space and leave the other two at home for future use.

HAND CREAM / BODY LOTION
We can't recommend our travel size Rich Hydrating Cream enough. We've received rave reviews for how moisturizing it is, yet it actually rubs in very quickly and isn't greasy at all. It improves skin's appearance and is wonderful for hydration after drying plane trips. The light citrus scent is both refreshing and calming while traveling, and you can reuse the bottle by refilling it from our convenient refill option (sold separately).

LIP AND CHEEK COLOR IN ONE
When we're on vacation we like to simplify our "get-ready" routine. Especially if you'll be getting a bit of a tan while you're there, it's nice to wear minimal makeup and let your natural glow shine through.
