A Healthier Cocktail Choice for Summer: Watermelon Margaritas
Sharing a glass of rosé or a fresh cocktail with friends and family when you're on weekend/vacation mode is one of the simple joys of summer. We love this simple watermelon margarita as a healthier choice for summer weekends.
We love this recipe for the simple, fresh ingredients, no added sugar, and super antioxidants from watermelon that are wonderful for skin. It's a great option if you're choosing between alcoholic drinks (tequila has been touted as the healthiest alcohol), and there's always the option to make these sans alcohol for a true skin boost.
BEST WATERMELON MARGARITAS, recipe from The Mimimalist Baker⠀
-1 1/4 cups watermelon juice⠀
-2 1/2 Tbsp lime juice⠀
-5 Tbsp silver tequila⠀
-Sea salt (optional for lining rim)
You can easily make watermelon juice yourself by blending several cubes of watermelon in a blender, and then using a strainer if desired to remove any seeds or pulp (we didn't find this step necessary).
To make margaritas, add watermelon juice, lime juice, tequila, and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously to combine.
Sample a small amount and adjust flavor as needed, adding more watermelon juice for sweetness, lime juice for acidity, or tequila for booziness.⠀
Line the rim of two serving glasses of your choice (we love martini glasses or traditional margarita rocks glasses) with lime juice and sea salt (optional). Add ice if desired, and pour in margaritas.
Best when fresh!
